Karsten Hamilton, sophomore at Harding Fine Arts Academy, is involved with guitar and graphic design. Recently he had the opportunity to play the national anthem at a Firehawk Basketball game! Some of his other hobbies include playing guitar, piano, drums and trick scootering. He is most inspired by Eddie Van Halen, Paul Gilbert and his middle school music teacher. “I love Eddie because he’s such an innovative guitar player – he never plays by the rules and isn’t afraid to explore new types of music” said Karsten. This attitude to music is something that he strives to do every day in class and these role models encourage him to continue practicing. In addition to music, he also enjoys drawing and graphic design because it gives him another way to express himself.
Karsten decided to attend HFAA to participate in the strong music and guitar program. “I knew the guitar program here was really good and could give me something that other schools couldn’t.” He chose to stay because of the tight-knit community and family-like campus culture that exists at Harding Fine Arts.
“It’s so accepting and welcoming, and everyone here allows people to be themselves. I love all of my teachers too. They push us to do our best while also understanding and giving us grace when we need it. Harding Fine Arts is a fun place to be!”
